How to Make a Scrap Cushion Cover

Turn your fabric scraps into a simple and beautiful cushion cover. This patchwork design is made by sewing the sections separately, then joining them into one complete front panel.

1. Sew the top section

Join the three horizontal strips in the order shown in the diagram. Sew carefully and press the seams well after each step for a neat finish.

2. Sew the bottom section

Join the three vertical strips to create the lower section of the block. Once both sections are ready, sew them together and add the green side panel to complete the cushion front.

3. Add structure and finish

Once the quilting block is fully sewn, I suggest adding interfacing to the back for extra structure. Then sew over the front to hold everything in place. You can quilt it with a loose grid or use any free-style quilting design you like. After that, trim the panel to size, add the back pieces, and finish your cushion cover.

Join the top section to the bottom section, then sew the green side panel to complete the front. Trim the block if needed, add your backing pieces, and finish your cushion cover with an envelope closure.
