My First Paid Embroidery Job: A Journey from Nerves to Pride

When I look back at 2023, one memory always stands out: my very first paid embroidery order — two custom tote bags for teachers.

It was such a special moment because my embroidery machine had only been with me for a few days. I was nervous, excited, and determined to make something beautiful. I still remember how I struggled with the settings and, yes, made mistakes — one of the bags had to be completely redone. 😅 But I didn’t give up.

The design is still one of my favorites: a soft rainbow palette, a little heart at the center, and meaningful phrases like “It takes a big heart to shape little minds” and “Best Teacher Ever.” Seeing the colors come to life with every stitch felt magical.

Now, with Teacher’s Day coming up this September, I look at those bags and feel nothing but gratitude. Somewhere out there, two amazing teachers are still carrying those totes — a little piece of my early journey, stitched with love and lots of learning.
