Two years ago, I celebrated a very special milestone, my first birthday party in Singapore, after moving here and starting a new chapter of my life. And for this celebration, I wanted a dress that would truly represent me: handmade, creative, sparkling, and full of love. So I decided to make it myself.
The Design Idea
I wanted something fun, elegant, and with that little Marvil Embroidery touch, so a silver sequin dress was the perfect canvas.
But I also wanted to give it a unique detail that would make it mine, not just a simple party dress.
That’s when I had the idea: I would embroider delicate flowers on tulle and build a 3D floral shoulder piece that would bring a sculptural and feminine element to the design.
The Process
I embroidered many small flowers on soft tulle, playing with textures and layers. It was a lot of work, each flower was made separately with careful stitching, and I used different sizes to create depth and movement.
Then, I started arranging them on the shoulder of the dress.
Little by little, sewing each flower by hand, I created a beautiful relief effect that climbed from the front of the dress, over the shoulder, and down the back strap.
The final result was exactly what I had imagined, a dress that sparkled with silver sequins, but with an elegant, delicate shoulder piece that caught the eye and told a story.
The Celebration
When the night of my 44th birthday party arrived, I wore the dress with so much joy. It wasn’t just about the style — it was about what the dress represented:
- My passion for creating with my hands
- My love for embroidery
- My courage to start a new life and business in a new country
- And my commitment to celebrate life and every special moment
It was such a beautiful evening, surrounded by friends, balloons, good food, and so much happiness. And wearing my handmade dress made it feel even more special.
A Dress Full of Memories
Now every time I see photos from that night, I smile, because this dress is a symbol of everything I love about what I do.
I’m already dreaming of the next one!
